About Us
The price of our food: environmental consequences
  • Livestock produces 14.5% of all greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Ukraine ranks 9th in the world in terms of the amount of garbage per person.
  • Ukrainian landfills have already accumulated 12.5 billion tons of waste.
  • Every year in Ukraine 15 million tons of plant waste are generated
  • By 2050, due to overpopulation, food production will increase by 70%.
Depletion of the planet's resources
The problem is related to the excess of the natural ability of the planet to provide the resources necessary for life. It covers the depletion of soils for growing food, catching fish on the verge of destruction, mass deforestation to expand farmland.
Generating a large amount of garbage
Generating large amounts of waste is an urgent challenge. A significant proportion of waste is organic waste, which can potentially be recycled into useful fertilizer. The problem lies in the loss of raw material potential: it can be returned to the ecosystem through recycling.
Growing demand for food
The problem arises from the constant increase in the population and, accordingly, the increase in the level of poverty. Increased demand for food leads to increased pressure on resources and increased exploitation of land and water resources.
Solution
A small insect against global problems
The black lionfish and the products we obtain from its use play a key role in solving environmental challenges. The insect is an efficient converter of organic material into protein, which makes it possible to use less resources for the production of feed. The process of cultivation and recycling takes place in a closed ecological cycle, where the waste of one stage becomes raw material for another. For example, waste from growing larvae is fertilizer, and from agricultural production is larval food.
Using insects to produce food will potentially provide more food resources for the planet's growing population. The high protein content in black lionfish products makes them an effective source of nutrition.
